Close to 250 guests celebrated the launch party of Empowered by Light on Saturday at Roe in San Francisco. The event was hosted by Entourage star and eco-activist Adrian Grenier and Peter Glatzer, co-founders of SHFT.com.

Empowered by Light is an organization dedicated to improving lives through renewable energy technologies. The organization’s project, Solar: ZAMBIA, aims to help families living off the grid in rural Zambia who regularly pay for kerosene lighting and cellular phone charging services.  The project seeks to displace these costs by providing a clean, renewable solution—solar-powered LED light and phone charging kits.  You can learn more about their efforts here.

The host committee included ecofabulous Nadine Weil who helped to orchestrate an amazing group of attendees, music, sustainable drinks, and organic food. The event was a great success raising more than $100,000 for the project.
